So there were three promotions putting on events this weekend. The new DREAM promotion had their inaugural event where Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic was able to win his fight. I can't remember the other two promotions and it's probably not that important. Are all these MMA promotions good for Mixed Martial Arts?

Here are some positives:

• More fights - more promotions should mean more fighters fighting more fights.
• Better fighters - the more fights the better the fighters should get.

The negatives:

• Free Agents - The more promotions can lead to the talent being spread across promotions.
• Titles Relevant - Who is the best fighter in the world? Hard to tell with some many champtions.
• Different Rules - A unified set of rules is a must.

Ideally, MMA needs to setup a model like the NFL. There is one top league where the best athletes all play and are paid on a fair scale. To help develop talent, the NFL uses college and other promotions such as the Arena Football league to help develop talent. Can it be done?
