Watered Down MMA?

So there were three promotions putting on events this weekend. The new DREAM promotion had their inaugural event where Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic was able to win his fight. I can't remember the other two promotions and it's probably not that important. Are all these MMA promotions good for Mixed Martial Arts?
Here are some positives:
- More fights - more promotions should mean more fighters fighting more fights.
- Better fighters - the more fights the better the fighters should get.
The negatives:
- Free Agents - The more promotions can lead to the talent being spread across promotions.
- Titles Relevant - Who is the best fighter in the world? Hard to tell with some many champtions.
- Different Rules - A unified set of rules is a must.
Ideally, MMA needs to setup a model like the NFL. There is one top league where the best athletes all play and are paid on a fair scale. To help develop talent, the NFL uses college and other promotions such as the Arena Football league to help develop talent. Can it be done?
